Dabrye fuses jazz, hip-hop in new CD
Ann Arbor's Dabrye is an unlikely hip-hop producer. On his new disc, he skillfully juxtaposes high concept, wordplay-heavy rhymes from an array of underground hip-hop MCs with his austere, abstract arrangements that contain elements of techno, soul and jazz. The slow, head-nodding beats seem almost narcotic at times.
